i'd say it isn't a giant amount of work, but it is enough work that imho we
shouldn't replace expected values with actual code generating them as part of
this bug.

i generated the expected values using the simulator and a one-off bash script
reading from /tmp/expected (i improved it to print fprs), so it wasn't that
difficult.
