if programs such as these are included as git submodules in a "test"
repository (e.g. libresoc-mesa-test) then it would encapsulate what
you are doing and allow others to rapidly catch up, and others to
replicate where you are at.

as i have found just today, that might even be you.  although i have a
backup drive it doesn't help much if the filesystem becomes corrupted,
you still have to undergo recovery procedures.

if the testing process takes time for you to set up and the *only
copy* of those test procedures is on your machine, and that machine is
lost, you have to reproduce them, don't you?
