hmm that's quite annoying: with m.If and m.Else etc is interfering /
interacting with the overload of __getattr__ and __setattr__ in
unexpected ways.

what that means is: whilst it's ok to *read* values, it's not ok to
write them, except once, and then only from a straight unconditional
(no ifs, not else's) combinatorial block.

darn it.  rethink time.

well, do keep going, aleksander: we'll keep the modifications to
get_op because they work, ok?
