neither did i, although i did basic electronics as a kid.

well there is a lot of different things, even just turning
hand-drawn architectural diagrams into SVGs, which gives a
glimpse at least.  and what we tend to do is ask people to
write a tutorial, which of course you have to learn the
topic in order to write it.
