Santosh, Jacob suggested a good fix but did not cc you.

Veera could you confirm by running "which python" and
adding to .profile PATH etc, it will make sure python2
gets priority.

Honestly though there should not be damage within the chroot
to change the global symlink but adding to .profile is better.
