argh.  just in putting this sentence in, and the paragraph above that
an "add" example is needed:
(TODO: add an example of how this would then do e.g. an add (to
another SimdSignal of only 8 bits in length or so)

it asks the question, "um, where does the PartitionPoints for the
signal c come from"?

can you fill out the example so we can think that through? (also
simplify the tables, remove elwidth=8 so that the size is cut in half)
