middle-of-night thoughts
the issue with Slice, what differentiates it
from the entire current code, is that the
width output is fixed based on element width,
and the element width of the output does *not* change
as elwidth changes.
all other code has had input where the elwidth is
defined as a secondary priority based on a fixed
overall width.
damn.
it is not the padding that is the "lead driver" here,
that is a secondary requirement, it is the fixed
element width that is the priority.
nuts.
that will need some planning to deal with, first implementing ElwidthPartType then adapting
PartitionedCat etc to understand padding
and the concept of fixed element widths.
more tomorrow, 4an not the best time to write.
