i used to be able to sing perfectly in tune, as a bass.
i can no longer accurately sustain a bass note at the right
pitch, varying an *entire semitone* and being both
unable to notice at the time and unable to keep in tune.
i can however notice recordings are in or out of key, which
is why i am able to make this observation.

initially i thought only my speech was affected by the abuse
of RAYMOND, CALDERWOOD and LEWIS: this is much more serious
if my singing ability is also damaged.
