i got rid of a *lot* of unnecessary crap. to repeat, and please listen:
this is intended as a *short* demonstration.  const: crap. limits.h: crap.
long "perfect" Makefile: i *already made it clear* to keep it to the bare
minimum. i really, *really* do not like being ignored, it is very
disrespectful.
