ah thank you.  forgot about that.  the figures i got were from a
special TI video processing chip, with dual 32-bit DDR3 1600mhz
interfaces.  the power consumption figure was 1.6 watts per channel.

yes.  i think that's where i was confused (overclocking almost always
involves increasing voltage).  actually it's a huge source of
confusion across the internet, that one.
